A truly benevolent Nikke who has no hesitation in sacrificing herself for others in needs. Due to her kind characteristic, she has no enemies. Everyone likes Marian. Nobody would be able to clearly identify this truly unblemished benevolence as whether an act of virtue or a simple flaw. Marian is a warmhearted, protective Nikke who has no qualms of protecting others as her own duty, forming a bond between herself and her human commander. Similarly to Rapi, Marian is highly obedient to the protagonist and loathes over insubordinance amongst other Nikkes. [spoiler]Once known as the Nikke Marian of Elysion, she was corrupted by the Raptures, and the commander was forced to execute her. The Raptures salvaged her corpse and turned her into a Heretic, a Nikke-Rapture hybrid that opposes humanity. The protagonist managed to save her, but circumstances led to the erasure of her memory, rendering her a blank slate. Despite her not opposing humanity anymore, she is still designated as a member of the Heretics. To ensure her safety, the commander has entrusted her under the custody of other Pilgrim groups; Pioneer and White Knight respectively. A plain and delicate girl who sold out mankind. A member of the Queen's elite squad, the Heretics.[/spoiler] Modernia initially is portrayed with a somewhat delightful demeanor combined with a sadistic tendency to torture her opponents. Modernia's voice is somehow younger than when she was still Marian. At first glance, she appears to have not remembered her former commander or her teammates, but after she was freed of the Rapture's corrupting influence, Modernia retained part of her memories as Marian, highly righteous and protective towards the commander she forms a bond with. [spoiler]Due to Marian being inflicted with corruption for a second time and the subsequent neural wipe to treat her, Modernia has the demeanor comparable to that of a toddler; she is having troubles speaking some simple words such as the name of her comrades, and constantly says incorrect phrases like "discount" instead of "Encounter" when commencing combat. She has also become naïve, and easily prone to pranks. For some reason, she has a particular tendency to wear her underwear on the outside and mess around with flour. She's also quite fixated on bandages, whether it be rushing over to grab a box of them or making use of them. She even wears a few bandages as a hairband, a keepsake from before she became a Heretic.[/spoiler] [spoiler]After living with Pioneer for awhile, Marian now has all of their odd habits including insect consumption, perusal of adult material, and drinking alcohol. Habits that would remain even after she mentally matured during her time with Crown and Chime, accompanied by a literal transformation. In spite of these, Modernia still retains her absolute love and loyalty for her commander, to the point of forming a bond much like her heydays as Marian.[/spoiler] [spoiler]Both pre- and post-transformation Marian bear an odd sympathy towards Raptures. The former displayed pitying behavior as she gazed upon the husks of Raptures she destroyed. The latter will fight Raptures if they threaten the people she cherishes, though she will express visible distress even while actively gunning down Raptures. It's heavily implied that this sympathy stems from Marian/"Modernia" having the aptitude to become a leader of Raptures similar to the Queen, eventually turning into a candidate to become the new Rapture Queen.[/spoiler] (Source: Nikkepedia)
